Saturday Nostalgia - Week 1

Saturdays have always been my favourite of the days in a week, ever since I was a nipper, so every Saturday I'll be indulging in a bit of a stroll down Frankie lane (not the crooner, my memory!) and bringing you whatever I dredge up from my distant recollections.

For the first week, I couldn't think of a better way to start than with this song which made it to number 11 in 1982 and was the first ever record I bought with my own shiny pennies.

Like A (German) Bull In A China Shop.

Tsk! Slacking already!! To anyone who's reading this (and I know at least one person is) I'm sorry for yesterdays absence. I was busy, busy, busy. I'm currently doing a health degree, so maybe now was a bit of a crazy time to start up a music blog that needs regular updates. Well, I'm crazy so I'm doin' it, OK?
Today's piece of music is a lovely number which I discovered around a year ago on the Popshopping album, a collection of German advert music. It really is a fantastic listen which i often put on to lift my spirits if I'm feeling stressed.
This particular track is very spaghetti western and I'm vowing now to use it when i make my epic Manchester movie.
Get three coffins ready!

Where's The Fire?

Well, I've made it to the second day and am just about getting the hang of the technical side of updating this blog type thingy. Seriously, if anyone is thinking of starting one up, I'd say have a go. It's pretty straightforward stuff.

Anyway, today's song is Fire Station Towers, an early 80's indie effort by The Close Lobsters. And to be honest, that's all I'm gonna tell you about it, I'm not someone who professes to have a large knowledge about musical history, 'cos I don't.
I just know what I like and I think that's perfectly good reason to be sharing stuff with the world. I can't promise this site will match your musical tastes or learn you anything you didn't know, but I promise that each day will include something different and if you stick with it, you should find I build up quite an eclectic selection.
But there's no rush for all that is there? Chill out, relax and enjoy the lobsters.

Let Me Organise You!

Hello there and welcome to this the very first entry on my new site.
I think the term in the trade for this kind of thing is "Music-Blog", yes this is a music-blog.
Each day I will post an mp3 or two that you can listen to online (because I'm nice like that) and I might even say a few words about the music I'm offering. But, if you find what I have to say boring, then just scroll down to find the link which will always be located at the bottom of each entry. After a week or two, the music will magically disappear, never to return, so you'll have to be regular if you want to absorb all I have to offer. I'll also probably share some of my life secrets with you, but I'm a laid back guy ,so today I'll just ease you all in gently. (well, I say "all"...).

The truth is, I'm a disorganised bloke from Manchester who does have a deep desire to share his musical tastes with others because it's so varied I don't know what else to do with it! But. don't be intimidated, the only plan I have is to have no plan. Stick around and you'll hear a bit of everything at this place. So, once again I welcome anyone and everyone to frequent this place for the daily surprises I will be laying before you, I hope you all enjoy it.

My name? I'm Frankie and I'm the Organiser!
